Our Preschool Philosophy

At Kids Paradise, we feel a child-centered approach is the most effective way for teaching young children. We incorporate natural surroundings into our classroom and encourage social interaction. Each child brings with them, individual qualities that add to the uniqueness of our program.

Our staff members are caring individuals who put the needs and well-being of the child first. The creative progress of each child is most significant. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe to learn, grow and explore. Through our active hands-on learning activities, your child will develop emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially.

Our Curriculum

Emergent curriculum is a philosophy of teaching and way of planning curriculum that focuses on being responsive to children’s interests to create meaningful learning experiences. It can be practiced at any grade level. This philosophy prioritizes active participation, relationship building, flexible and adaptable methods, inquiry, and play-based learning. Curriculum is child-initiated, collaborative and responsive to the children’s needs. Proponents of this style of teaching advocate that knowledge of the child is the key to success in our program.

To plan an emergent curriculum requires observation, documentation, creative brainstorming, flexibility and patience. Rather than starting with a lesson plan which requires a “hook” to get the child interested, emergent curriculum starts with the observation of the child for insight into their interests. Additionally, content is influenced by values held for the children’s learning by the school, community, family and culture. Our classrooms consist of learning centers that expand and facilitate children’s learning and encourage independent learning skills.
